Northwest Harvest BankWork$ Financial Beginnings Safe Banking for Seniors Financial Literacy Awards Moonjar

During the height of the Great Recession, several CEOs and executives from Washington banks gathered together to brainstorm how best to promote the industry. Banks and their employees have long been active and integral members of their communities, but often not many of their customers knew about this level of involvement.

Bankers Care began as an annual food drive, working in partnership with Northwest Harvest. Soon, the WBA and its members realized the concept of Bankers Care meant so much more than taking in food donations once a year. Bankers Care has since expanded to include financial literacy and education programs, all of which have been vetted and are endorsed by the WBA.

WBA is proud to work with a variety of local organizations and recognizes the work our members do in their communities. Here are some examples showcasing how Bankers Care:

  • First Federal branches worked to collect school supplies for local students in need of items before going back to school this fall.

  • BankWork$ celebrated another milestone in late May when the first class of Snohomish County students graduated during a ceremony and job fair in Edmonds. BankWork$ has held classes in Snohomish County, Seattle, South King County and Tacoma.
